Event: Path To Purpose Media's Short-film release

Event Location: Dr Martin Luther King Jr Dr Pensacola FL

Date and Time: 07/12/24 7:00 pm

I stepped through the doors of the venue with my god-sister and immediately to our right side was a red carpet and a custom made backdrop that read “Path To Purpose Media”. There were bouncer poles fastened by ropes. On the other side of the setup were the refreshments: finger sandwiches, drinks, and different cheeses and assortments. Flashing lights, from the attendees, danced on the walls. The room was filled with people and there was hardly a place to sit. I thought to myself “She really went all out” it was definitely something to remember. I could definitely see the drive and intentness behind it all. Now for the review.

I’d like to start my review by saying that it isn't a simple feat to produce a short-film, especially when it is your first. I’ve been involved with multiple films including my own; which was not even completed. Not only did Yeisha, founder of Path To Purpose Media, create a short-film with her team, but she filmed the scenes in one day and the execution was anything, but rushed.

Granted, I could emphasize the “short” in short-films, but I won't. The film was brief, but impactful. It was based on and narrated with a poem read by Yeisha Taylor-McGee herself, beautifully written(I love poetry). The film captured how depression works beyond the vale.

The opening scene began with two individuals(Actor and Actress: Kenneth Burrel, and Alexia D. Pant) sitting in a restaurant at a booth across from each other, except it wasn’t just the two individuals at all. There was a third party; an entity and it was Depression.

Adorned with all black, he wore a robe and a hood that resembled The Grim reaper. His features were encapsulated by the shadows of his hood. He stood over the Actress Alexia D. Pant. Later in the film we would see Depression puppeteering the Actors like a puppet show determining their every move.

“... see this bond that we share, depression makes most of my decisions, I really have no say so…” - Yeisha Taylor-McGee

Impact and details behind, let’s talk about film quality, refreshments, Actors, and what took place after the film showing. I’ll be quick with the first three, as I have a lot to say about what took place after the film.

I’ve seen plenty of passion-project films and the quality was always janky and lacking, but not in this case. The audio was clear and the picture was pretty pristine. It had a cinematic presence. The refreshments were pleasing and plentiful, and the actors didn’t give off that “newbie actor cringe”, but there is always room for improvement.

Now to the juicy part of the night, or should I say oily? Because the presence of God shone through the participants of the night, as we answered and asked questions.

Yes, the film was short, but yes the night made an impact. After the film there was an open forum which allowed professionals and children of God to give their input on how to overcome depression. We ended with one fact as emotions were high and God’s presence was in the building. I was the last to speak in conclusion.

“Depression is in fact a spiritual matter in which only God can deliver you from. We understand that God has given us professionals in the medical field for a reason; to assist. While medication and therapy is a great way to treat symptoms, it will only suppress mental illness. True healing comes from God. It is wise to seek professional help as this will aid you in recovery, but one must learn to fight the spiritual battle as well. Your healing will ultimately come from God. Seek professional help and join a community that will help you fight spiritually, until you learn to fight for yourself”

The film was short and sweet; beautifully crafted. The poem was deep and revealing. It began as a viewing, but ended as a healing session. Hopefully this won't be the last project from Path To Purpose Media. Mrs. McGee definitely has something here.

All in all, my rating for the short-film in comparison to other home-filmed projects, including impact, is a 8. If we were to rate quality alone, 7.5. These are very high ratings in my book. I can not wait until the next one!

P.s I would only suggest a tweak to the seating arrangements and spacing. The place was packed and heads did block the view of individuals sitting behind other people. (It was a great turn-out in numbers!)

Until next time, yours truly

REVIEW:

Event: “All In one” concert by K&S Productions

Event Location: The Gordon Community and Art Center, Pensacola Fl

Date & Time:  06/14/2024 6:30 pm

My brother William and myself had arrived at the event around 4:20 and decided to assist with the setup. As we set the chairs out, Kenyatta, the “K” in K&S Productions arrived 5 min later, with only one thing in mind. I watched as she graced the room, taking charge of the atmosphere.

“Can we get these chairs dusted? People are wearing gowns”

“Band, when will we be ready for soundcheck?”

“Sabrina will be here shortly”

“Where are the girls?”

I was amazed by her and Sabrina’s professionalism, execution, and punctuation, which was done with a level-head and a polite attitude, something you rarely see with show managers and production.

It was 6:30 on the dot when I heard the MC ask over the mic, “how we feeling tonight?”  getting the crowd prepared and energized for the performances. I knew it was exactly 6:30 because William had expressed his amazement on the punctuality.

Sabrina, Kenyatta, Zhaquandair, Tyira, and a few other beautiful ladies(and one gentleman) took to the stage, their faces painted by the lovely Shaquansia Love of Angelic Faces, a gifted make-up artist and friend located in Pensacola Fl. They opened with “Run Away '' by The Amours x Peter Collins . The melodies and harmonies rang in the air and danced on my eardrum, as I sat listening in utter amazement. I could hear each voice add a unique texture: high keys, fillers, and lower registers blending together to form a beautiful mozart of heavenly voices.

I would have been completely taken away by the beautiful soundwaves of weightless melodies and harmonic tunes if it wasn’t for my big back and the delicious food being sat out beside me by the lovely vendors! Nina’s Kitchen kept me grounded with their lovely dinner selections and delightful desserts! Both of which I was gifted. The owner of the business decided to offer me a “sample” of her Shrimp and Chicken Alfredo but the plate was heavier than my expanding back, and I didn’t even finish it all!  The plate was filled with shrimp and chicken accompanied by a creamy sauce that encapsulated every noodle! Flavor combusting every chamber of my taste buds, it was EEEmaculate!

The show went on, each lady barely missing a key as they performed under the blue glowing lights. The room was almost completely dark, but lit just enough by the stage lights. The atmosphere was loving, fun, and comfortable. As a reviewer I searched for both the good and correctional things to point out. I believe a good reviewer must remain unbiased. Amazingly, I noticed nothing wrong, or correctional to point out. Even the guests were polite and friendly. I Could say that I could barely see my surroundings in the darkness, but hey? I can barely see in the light either!

So all in all my assessment and rating of the K&S experience is: It was great, fun. relaxing, punctual, professional, and executed with grace. I’d rate it 8.5 out of 10, which is saying a lot as most functions I've been to like this are a hard 6!

Continue to set pensacola ablaze ladies, and I look forward to your next show on Sept 20, 2024.
